Job Description

SUMMARY  

Responsible for developing, writing, editing, and refining high-quality editorial content for Nurse Point Magazine and future publications. This role leads article creation, supports editorial planning and theme development, and brings strong creative writing skills to produce engaging headlines and compelling stories. The position focuses primarily on long-form editorial content, with occasional adaptation of content for newsletters, websites, or social media as needed. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Writes, edits, proofreads, organizes, and reviews a wide variety of editorial and marketing content for publication and external communications.
  • Writes, compiles, and edits Nurse Point Magazine, as well as future magazines or newsletters, including long-form articles, features, headlines, and supporting copy.
  • Collaborates in developing themes, story ideas, and editorial direction for each publication or issue.
  • Ideates on editorial coverage, proactively identifies trends in nursing and healthcare, and develops creative approaches to engage and connect with readers.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships with senior executives, nursing thought leaders, clinicians, and other healthcare industry professionals to support content development and thought leadership.
  • Edits and refines content from internal and external contributors to ensure consistency in tone, clarity, accuracy, and quality.
  • Develops, maintains, and adapts the brand’s voice, style, and tone consistently across magazines, newsletters, marketing materials, and digital channels.
  • Conducts research to support editorial content using credible digital sources, professional publications, and industry resources.
  • Collaborates with clinical, legal, regulatory, and other internal stakeholders to support content review, revisions, and approval processes for each publication.
  • Adapts or contributes editorial content for use across additional channels, including websites, email newsletters, or social media, as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains editorial content, references, and publication assets in digital formats for current and future use.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, follow direction, and contribute positively in a regulated and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, incorporate feedback, and meet deadlines within an established review and approval process.
  • Responsible for following company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety/housekeeping, and the Quality Management System, as applicable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE   

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, or a related field, and two years of related writing and/or editorial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Required experience includes proficiency with modern writing, editing, and collaboration tools; comfort working in cloud-based document platforms; and the ability to conduct effective online research using reputable sources. Familiarity with digital publishing workflows, basic content management systems, and adapting content for multiple formats (print, web, email, or social media) is a plus.

  • Ability to remain tactful and discreet with confidential information appropriately.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, especially to type on a computer keyboard, stoop and bend, reach, climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Intense use of vision is required for document/report inspection/analysis and visual observation of a computer monitor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
